Recently, a batch of steel products for construction machinery was shipped from Xinsteel to North America. Among this batch of products, some thick steel plates represent a significant breakthrough for Xinsteel in the field of wear-resistant steel for engineering machinery. The AR500D wear-resistant steel has successfully broken the original production thickness limit of 50.8 mm for this steel grade, achieving mass production of 76.2 mm thickness for the first time, which greatly expands the production thickness range of the corresponding products.
In July of this year, a customer placed an order with Xinsteel for multiple steel types, which included some AR500D wear-resistant plates with a thickness of 76.2 mm. Previously, Xinsteel's AR500D wear-resistant plate had a maximum thickness of only 50.8 mm. If they abandoned it due to technical difficulties, they would miss out on the entire overseas order. In order to secure high-value-added orders and also to challenge itself, Xinsteel Group ultimately decided to accept the order.
Product engineers from the Thick Plate Division redesigned the composition and process for the 76.2 mm thickness and tracked the operation during production, providing careful guidance to ensure the process was executed properly. Testing revealed that the new 76.2mm AR500D met all customer requirements, including yield strength and tensile strength.
In the future, Xinsteel Group will continue to move towards higher specifications and sizes while achieving mass production of thick HBW500 grade wear-resistant steel, thereby consolidating its competitive advantages through product diversification and differentiation, and continuously improving its production and operation performance.
