On October 30, as new energy vehicles began to charge one after another, the "Optical Storage and Charging" integrated energy station was officially put into operation. It is a comprehensive integrated energy station after Changzhou public stations and dedicated bus stations. It is the first time for the application of the energy station model in Changzhou enterprises and institutions.

The energy station is located in the parking lot of the South Plant of Zhongtian Steel at No. 2 Zhongwu Avenue, Changzhou City. The construction took half a year to complete. The station is equipped with 14 sets of 160-kilowatt sponge storage and charging cabinets and a 1.3-megawatt photovoltaic carport. When operating at full power, it can meet the changing needs of social vehicles and ZHONGTIAN employees' new energy vehicles more than 400,000 times throughout the year.

At the same time, the energy storage system serves as a backup power supply to ensure normal charging of vehicles when the power grid fails. Wu Xianyang, executive deputy general manager and director of the Environmental Energy Department of Zhongtian Special Steel Company, said that the station can provide 970,000 kilowatt-hours of green electricity every year, which is equivalent to saving 295 tons of standard coal every year compared with thermal power with the same power generation capacity. It reduces carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 789 tons and saves a large amount of freshwater resources.

Zhongtian Iron and Steel has always regarded green development and environmental protection development as the enterprise's bottom line and has invested more than 20 billion yuan in implementing more than 190 energy-saving, emission reduction, and recycling projects. Currently, Zhongtian is accelerating the construction of "green electricity", planning and deploying photovoltaic power generation projects, wind power generation projects, and hydrogen metallurgy projects in three major bases in Changzhou, Nantong, and Huai'an, implementing new development concepts, and helping to achieve "double carbon" target.
