Recently, Jingye Group successfully developed Q420MD, a low-alloy high-strength structural steel. As a product conforming to the GB/T1591-2018 standard, Q420MD has the characteristics of high strength, good toughness and excellent weldability. It has become a core material in many high-end fields such as construction, energy and engineering machinery, and is widely used in key components such as the load-bearing structure of large stadiums, the shell of wind power equipment, supercritical boiler pipes and excavator track plates, and mining machinery buckets.
This steel is designed with low carbon content as its core, and adds microalloying elements such as niobium and vanadium. It not only controls the carbon equivalent to below 0.43% to ensure weldability, but also refines the grains through controlled rolling and cooling processes to achieve an elongation of ≥18% at high strength. This balance between strength and toughness makes it particularly advantageous in cold regions and complex working conditions.
To ensure that the performance of Q420MD products fully meets the standards, Jingye Group's No. 1 Steelmaking Plant and Technology Research Center took the lead, and worked together with multiple departments such as production and quality inspection to accurately formulate trial production plans, conduct in-depth analysis of process principles and parameter optimization, control key quality nodes such as batching, smelting, and rolling, and strictly implement established standards and technical specifications. In the end, they successfully completed the mass production of Q420MD steel and delivered it on schedule. The core indicators of the product, such as yield strength, toughness, and weldability, 100% meet the customer's customized technical requirements and have won high recognition from the customer.
