From September 12 to 14, the Anyang Base 2800 unit successfully rolled 171.2 tons of high manganese non-magnetic 20Mn23ALV transformer structure steel in batches. After inspection, the product's size, plate shape, and other quality indicators meet customer requirements. This steel grade will be used in power transmission and distribution. It marks a breakthrough in the transformation of special steel.

In recent years, Anyang Base has firmly adhered to the development direction of "Three Transformations and One Transformation," which is efficiency-centered and market-oriented, increased efforts to expand specifications and varieties, and continued to increase the proportion of high-value-added products. The 20Mn23ALV high manganese non-magnetic steel order received this time is a customized product for customers. The billet is a die-cast billet with an irregular wedge shape, low precision, uneven length, ultra-thin, and ultra-thick thickness, which breaks the design limit of the width-to-thickness ratio of the heating furnace billet. In addition, the product itself has high strength, poor thermal conductivity, long heating time, and fast temperature drop, which has extremely strict requirements on equipment, process, and operation.

To ensure the success of the first batch rolling of this product, the first smelting and rolling operation department of Anyang Base held seminars many times, repeatedly demonstrated the production plan, and compiled and revised the key points of process operation around the difficulties of rolling irregular billets of high manganese non-magnetic steel and the characteristics of the process equipment of the 2800 unit. In response to the problem of irregular billets, technicians measured the dimensions of the incoming materials piece by piece and formulated a furnace loading sequence table. Moreover, they made billet pads according to the furnace loading sequence, which effectively solved the technical problems of billet tilting and overlapping during heating. During rolling, the post personnel carefully operated, focused on the operation quality and fine-tuned the process parameters in time to achieve the best production operation. Since the product has non-magnetic characteristics, ordinary magnetic disk cranes cannot be worked. Therefore, the staff of the operation department independently made wire rope hooks, overcame the difficulties of steel plate lifting and external loading, and successfully rolled off the production line.

The successful batch rolling of high-manganese non-magnetic steel 20Mn23ALV has further expanded the types and specifications of high-end products, revitalized the 2800 unit, and became another achievement in the transformation process of special steel.
