Recently, Ansteel Co., Ltd.'s newly developed Longitudinal Variable Thickness Steel Plates (LP plates) were successfully applied in the technical upgrade project for medium-thickness plates at Liugang in Guangxi. This marks the product's first entry into the metallurgical industrial construction sector, achieving another key breakthrough in its application scope—expanding from bridges, wind power, and shipbuilding to industrial construction.

LP steel plates, as a new type of green steel with reduced material usage, offer significant advantages such as conserving steel resources, lightening structural weight, reducing weld counts, and enhancing seismic resistance. They contribute to optimizing steel structure design, lowering costs, and improving overall safety. Their application in the Liugang expansion project marks the first instance in the global metallurgical industrial construction sector.

To meet customized client requirements, Ansteel Co., Ltd. spearheaded the establishment of the LP Plate Application Industrial Technology Innovation Alliance. Collaborating with universities and relevant enterprises, the alliance tackles technical challenges across the entire production chain—from manufacturing and design to processing and application—enabling resource sharing and complementary strengths. Currently, Ansteel has essentially mastered the core production technologies for the LP plate series and will promote this product as a key series for market expansion.

In recent years, Ansteel Co., Ltd. has continuously advanced technological R&D and application studies for LP steel plates, accumulating eight authorized patents. The company spearheaded the development of the national standard GB/T 37800-2019 “Hot-Rolled Longitudinal Variable-Thickness Steel Plates” and the international standard ISO 11772-2024 “Hot-Rolled Longitudinal Profiled Steel Plates,” filling gaps in both domestic and international standard systems within this field. Additionally, Ansteel has spearheaded the release of multiple LP steel plate group standards across wind power, construction, bridge engineering, and shipbuilding sectors, providing technical foundations for standardized application across these industries.

The establishment of this series of standards has not only promoted industrial restructuring and standardized market development but also accelerated the advancement of China's variable-thickness steel plate production technology. This has laid a solid foundation for the large-scale application of this green material across multiple sectors, propelling the industry toward a new phase of energy conservation, carbon reduction, and sustainable development.
