Hot Rolled Patterned Coil
Introduction

Patterned steel plate, also known as patterned steel plate or mesh steel plate, refers to a hot-rolled steel plate or steel with raised patterns such as diamond, lentil, round bean or a combination of patterns on the surface. Due to its unique anti-slip properties and good processability, it has been widely used in construction, transportation, machinery, and other fields.

Patterned steel coils come in two product forms: Patterned steel sheet: a single sheet of steel cut to a fixed length.
Patterned steel strip (patterned coil): Steel strip delivered in coils, convenient for transportation and subsequent continuous processing.

Patterned steel coils are delivered in hot-rolled condition, with the surface patterns primarily serving anti-slip and decorative purposes. The combined patterned steel sheet has significantly better overall performance than the single patterned steel sheet in terms of anti-slip ability, bending resistance, metal saving, and appearance.

1. Classification by Pattern Shape

2. Classification by Surface Finish
Pattern steel coils are classified into two grades according to surface quality: Ordinary Finish: The steel plate surface is allowed to have a thin layer of iron oxide scale, rust, surface roughness caused by the peeling off of iron oxide scale, and other local defects whose height or depth does not exceed the allowable deviation. Inconspicuous burrs and individual marks whose height does not exceed the height of the pattern are allowed.

High precision: Thin layers of iron oxide scale, rust, and other local defects with a height or depth not exceeding half the thickness tolerance are allowed on the steel plate surface. The pattern is intact and undamaged, and minor burrs with a height not exceeding half the thickness tolerance are allowed on the pattern.

Core Performance Characteristics
1. Anti-slip performance: The surface of the patterned steel plate roll has raised diamond or ridge patterns, which have excellent anti-slip properties. This is its most core functional characteristic.
2. Strength: Standard checkered plate coils meet Q235 or Q355 grade requirements. In recent years, high-strength patterned coils have achieved a strength of 600MPa and have been successfully developed into ultra-thin 1.8mm products.
3. Processing performance: Patterned steel coils are delivered in hot-rolled condition and have good processing performance such as cold bending, shearing, and welding.
4. Surface Quality Requirements: The surface of the patterned steel plate must be free from blisters, scabs, tears, folds, inclusions, and delamination.
5. Durability: The patterned coils are made of hot-rolled steel, ensuring high strength and durability, making them suitable for heavy-duty applications.
6. Corrosion resistance: Depending on the type of steel used and the surface treatment process, patterned coils can have good corrosion resistance and weather resistance.

7. Decorative Appeal: The patterned surface adds an attractive visual element, making it suitable for architectural and interior design applications.

Applications:

Hot Rolled Patterned Coils find applications in various industries, including:
Industrial flooring and platforms;Shipbuilding and marine applications;Construction and architectural elements;Transportation (vehicle floors and ramps);Structural componentsManufacturing and machinery equipment.
It's important to note that the specific pattern types, sizes, and grades of Hot Rolled Patterned Coils may vary based on regional preferences, manufacturer capabilities, and customer requirements. As with any steel product, compliance with relevant industry standards and specifications is essential to ensure quality, performance, and safety in the intended applications.

Patterned steel coils are hot-rolled steel plates or strips with raised patterns in the shape of diamonds, lentils, round beans, or combinations thereof on their surface, with anti-slip as their core functional feature. The most common grade is Q235B, but there are also Q355 and 600MPa high-strength products. Patterned steel sheets are widely used in places requiring anti-slip properties, such as building stair treads, ship decks, automobile floorboards, and machinery platforms, and are continuously developing towards high strength, ultra-thinness, and combined patterns.

Standards

The specific standards for Hot Rolled Patterned Coil (also known as Hot Rolled Patterned Plate or Chequered Coil/Plate) in China are defined under the Chinese National Standards (GB/T - Guo Biao Tuijian). The relevant GB/T standard for this product in China is:GB/T 33974-2017: This Chinese standard specifies the dimensions, shape, mass, and permissible variations of hot-rolled steel plates and sheets with a patterned surface on one side. The patterns on the surface of the coil are designed to provide enhanced anti-slip properties, making it suitable for various applications where slip resistance is crucial.GB/T 33974-2017 covers different types of patterns, such as diamond, teardrop, or other geometric shapes, and specifies the dimensions and tolerances for these patterned coils.

The relevant ASTM standards that are often referenced for hot-rolled steel products, including patterned coils, in the US are:ASTM A36/A36M: This standard covers carbon structural steel shapes, plates, and bars for general structural purposes. While it doesn't specifically focus on patterned coils, it is often used as a basis for the manufacture of various hot-rolled steel products.ASTM A786/A786M: This standard specifies the requirements for hot-rolled carbon, low-alloy, high-strength low-alloy, and alloy steel floor plates with a raised pattern on the surface. Though it doesn't encompass all types of patterned coils, it specifically addresses floor plates with patterns to provide anti-slip properties.

In the UK, Hot Rolled Patterned Coil is commonly produced and sold following the standards applicable to hot-rolled steel products with a patterned surface, especially for anti-slip properties. The primary standard that is often referenced for this type of product is:BS EN 10025-2: This European standard specifies the technical delivery conditions for hot-rolled non-alloy structural steel products. Part 2 of this standard, BS EN 10025-2, specifically covers hot-rolled products with specified minimum yield strengths for structural steel, including floor plates with raised patterns for slip resistance. While there may not be a dedicated standard for Hot Rolled Patterned Coil, manufacturers and suppliers in the UK typically follow industry practices and adhere to the relevant sections of BS EN 10025-2 when producing and supplying this product.

The specific standards for Hot Rolled Patterned Coil (also known as Hot Rolled Patterned Plate or Chequered Coil/Plate) in Japan are defined under the Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS). The relevant JIS standard for this product in Japan is:JIS G3193: This standard specifies the dimensions, shape, mass, and permissible variations of hot-rolled steel plates, sheets, and strips with a patterned surface on one side. The patterns on the surface of the coil are designed to provide enhanced anti-slip properties, making it suitable for various applications where slip resistance is crucial.JIS G3193 covers different types of patterns, such as diamond, teardrop, or other geometric shapes, and specifies the dimensions and tolerances for these patterned coils.Manufacturers in Japan producing Hot Rolled Patterned Coil typically follow JIS G3193 to ensure their products meet the necessary quality and performance standards. Compliance with JIS standards helps ensure the consistency and compatibility of Hot Rolled Patterned Coil in various applications.
