As the first cross-river passage on the Yangtze River that integrates expressways, intercity railways, and first-class highways, Changtai Yangtze River Bridge has created "four world firsts" and "six world bests". The "six world bests" include the wire rods for bridge cables produced by Xingcheng Special Steel to help the highest strength bridge parallel steel wire cable-stayed cables. The thickest cable of Changtai Yangtze River Bridge has a diameter of up to 200 mm and is composed of 499 7 mm high-strength steel wires with a tensile strength of up to 2100 MPa.

The research and development team of Xingcheng Special Steel took over the 7 mm 2000 MPa cable steel wire of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Tongjiang Highway-Railway Dual-Use Yangtze River Bridge four years ago, aiming at the 7 mm 2100 MPa cable steel for Changtai Yangtze River Bridge. From 2000 to 2100, it seems that only 100 MPa has been increased, but it is very difficult to ensure toughness based on improving the strength performance of the material. R&D personnel developed new ingredients, studied new processes, finely organized control, collaborated with users to tackle key problems, and continuously broke through the ceiling. Finally, they successfully developed wire rod materials that meet the construction needs of the Changtai Yangtze River Bridge.

The long road ahead is like iron, but now we start from the beginning. Innovation never ends. Xingcheng Special Steel is working on the wire rods for the bridge cables of the Zhangjinggao Yangtze River Bridge, the world's largest span suspension bridge. The steel wire strength is required to reach 2200 MPa, which is a more difficult step. Xingcheng Special Steel adheres to the concept that special steel is made by science and technology, focuses on innovation, and will surely achieve good results in one relay race after another.

The Changtai Yangtze River Bridge connects Changzhou and Taizhou in Jiangsu Province. After completion, it will shorten the travel time between Changtai from more than one hour to more than 20 minutes, promote cross-river integration in southern and central Jiangsu, and promote the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region.
