Recently, Shandong Steel's large-scale production line successfully trial-rolled and mass-produced high-strength H-beams (Prices) for ship hull structures with specifications of H310×310×20×20. The product's dimensional accuracy, surface quality, and various mechanical properties all met the standards and successfully passed the certification of China Classification Society (CCS). This further enriches Shandong Steel's product series of steel for ship hull structures and lays a solid foundation for expanding the market for high-end shipbuilding and marine engineering steel.
High-strength ship hull structural steel has high requirements for yield strength, low-temperature impact toughness, and corrosion resistance. Moreover, the product is a large-section, thick-walled H-beam (Introduction), which not only requires overcoming the dimensional control problem brought about by the extreme specifications, but also puts forward extremely high requirements for rolling process and controlled cooling technology.

To ensure the success of the trial rolling, the technical team scientifically formulated key rolling points, reasonably revised the rolling program, strengthened the inspection of finished product dimensions and surface quality in the steel rolling process, optimized the straightening process parameters in the finishing process, and completely eliminated shape defects. Through collaborative efforts, the product of this specification was finally successfully rolled off the production line.
