Shagang Yongxing Successfully Develops New Φ55 and Φ60 mm Round Bars

Recently, the Rolling Mill of Shagang Yongxing successfully completed the first batch production of two large-diameter, high-quality carbon structural steel round bars(Prices)—Φ55mm and Φ60mm. This marks a further expansion of the company’s round bar product range to Φ16mm–Φ60mm, bringing the total number of specifications available for mass production to 26 and taking the level of product diversification to a new height.

The two newly added large-diameter round bars feature excellent overall performance and are widely used in mechanical manufacturing, pipe processing, and component forging, among other fields. They are particularly suitable for the piercing process in the production of seamless steel pipes. As this batch was a custom order for a specific client, it required strict standards for dimensional accuracy, surface quality, and internal microstructural uniformity. To this end, the rolling mill planned ahead and formulated specialized process specifications focusing on key aspects such as die system optimization, heating regimen control, rolling speed matching, and flying shear cutting accuracy. It also completed technical upgrades to equipment such as the No. 1 flying shear’s centering guide groove and the cold shear material support device to ensure that the entire process remains under control and data is traceable.

According to finished product testing, all indicators of the new product—including dimensional accuracy and mechanical properties—fully comply with national standards and the requirements of the customer’s technical agreement. This successful development not only effectively ensures on-time delivery of orders but also lays the technical foundation for further refining the production process for large-diameter round bars and achieving stable mass production.
