Recently, the first cross-road steel box girder of the Jinan Phoenix Yellow River Bridge South Extension Project was installed, marking the start of an accelerated construction phase. As the core supplier of rebar (Prices) for this project, Shandong Steel has supplied nearly 10,000 tons of products, providing a solid guarantee for the project's construction.
In this supply, high-strength steel bars, custom-made for the project by Shandong Steel's bar mill, became the core supply product, with large-specification products with a diameter of 28 mm or more accounting for over 40%.
Large-diameter, high-strength steel bars have high technical barriers, requiring both high strength and stringent performance indicators such as earthquake resistance. Faced with the project's extremely high requirements, the bar mill ensured stable product quality by implementing refined composition control, optimizing rolling processes, and strengthening process quality management.
The bar mill relies on the "bar (Prices) business unit" linkage mechanism of Shandong Stee and works closely with the building materials sales department of the marketing headquarters. From the early stages of the project, we have worked closely with the design and construction units to tailor a production and delivery plan. On the production side, production scheduling was optimized across all production lines, billet and rolling rhythms were dynamically adjusted, and a "hot charging and direct delivery" process was implemented to significantly improve logistics efficiency. On the quality side, technical personnel tracked the entire process and strictly controlled key indicators such as composition, size, and weight per meter. The precise delivery of products effectively ensured the smooth installation of the first span of the box girder in the project.
