Recently, the hot-rolled Mn13 high manganese wear-resistant steel plates with a thickness of 10-30 mm rolled off the production line successfully at the 2800 mm medium and thick plate mill in the medium plate operation area of Jiugang Hongxing Co., Ltd.'s smelting and rolling plant.
This is the first time that JISCO has rolled this series of steel in batches after the initial trial production. The successful production means that JISCO has become one of the few domestic enterprises that use continuous casting to mass produce this type of steel, marking another solid step forward for JISCO in the field of special steel production.
Mn13 high manganese wear-resistant steel has excellent wear resistance, high strength, high hardness and weak magnetism, and is widely used in mining machinery, excavator buckets, ball mill liners, etc.
However, this type of steel has a very high carbon content and faces great challenges in the smelting, continuous casting and rolling processes. In particular, its poor thermal conductivity and large linear expansion coefficient make it very easy to have crack defects during slab cutting, which has become a bottleneck restricting product research and development and production.
To address this issue, the rolling mill, the Medium Plate and Wire Rod Research Institute of the Iron and Steel Research Institute, and the technical staff of the Stainless Steel Branch jointly formed a research team. They used a variety of technical means, such as hot processing, slab opening to thin specifications, and composition control, to successfully achieve the smooth cutting of high manganese wear-resistant steel slabs, solving the problem of easy cracking during slab cutting that has long plagued technical staff.
At the same time, during the rolling process, the technical staff of the smelting and rolling mill successfully achieved the mass production and supply of 10-30mm high manganese wear-resistant steel by matching the appropriate heating temperature and designing reasonable rolling procedures, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent production of thick-specification high manganese wear-resistant steel.
