General Administration of Customs: China Exported 10.155 Million Tons of Steel in August 2026

According to data on China's import and export volumes released by the General Administration of Customs on September 8, China exported 10.155 million tons of steel in August 2026, an increase of 34,000 tons, or 0.34%, compared with the previous month. China's steel exports totaled 75.149 million tons from January to August, a year-on-year decrease of 3.0%.

In August, China imported 434,000 tons of steel, down 11,000 tons or 2.47% month-on-month; from January to August, cumulative steel imports totaled 3.574 million tons, down 10.5% year-on-year.

In August, China imported 108.539 million tons of iron ore and its concentrates, an increase of 454,000 tons or 0.42% month-on-month. From January to August, China imported a total of 845.271 million tons of iron ore and its concentrates, up 5.5% year-on-year.

In August, China imported 42.092 million tons of coal and lignite, a decrease of 636,000 tons or 1.49% month-on-month; from January to August, the cumulative imports of coal and lignite reached 310.188 million tons, an increase of 3.4% year-on-year.
