According to the standards set out in the Chinese standard GB/T 11263-2017 "Hot rolled H-beams". The dimensions of H-beams are mainly expressed by the height (h), the thickness of the girdle (b), the width of the girdle (d) and the thickness ratio of the girdle thickness (t). A variety of types and sizes of H-beams are defined in the standard, for example, different types such as H100, H200 and H300 are common. the weight of an H-beam can be calculated from its dimensions. In general, the weight can be expressed in terms of weight per unit length, for example kilograms per metre (kg/m) or tonnes per metre (t/m). The permissible deviation of H-beams is the range of error allowed between their dimensions and weight and the values specified in the standard during the manufacturing process, which usually involves deviation limits in terms of height, waist plate thickness, waist plate width, thickness ratio of waist plate thickness, etc.
