The recommended operating temperature of common 304 stainless steel is -196°C to 800°C.
General stainless steel can withstand a high temperature of 500°C, while some special stainless steel can withstand a high temperature of 1000°C.


Common heat-resistant stainless steel grades include 304H, 321H, 316Ti, 309S, 310S, 409, etc.

The operating temperature range of 304H stainless steel can reach about 1150°C. 304H is a high-carbon version of 304 stainless steel, which has better high-temperature strength and corrosion resistance and is suitable for furnaces, burners, and high-temperature pipelines.

The heat-resistant temperature of 321H stainless steel can reach 800-1500℃, and it can remain stable and not fail for a long time at high temperatures, and has good corrosion resistance, toughness, and weldability, which is suitable for high-temperature furnaces, heat exchangers, pipelines, etc.

409 stainless steel can withstand up to 675°C during continuous operation. 409 stainless steel is a ferritic steel with good high-temperature corrosion resistance, medium strength, good formability, and overall cost. 409 is commonly used in vehicle exhaust systems and thermal and gas turbine exhaust mufflers.

316Ti stainless steel is heat-resistant to 1200-1300℃. 316Ti has a higher carbon content than 316L and adds titanium. It has excellent heat resistance and corrosion resistance, good strength, and plasticity. It is mainly used in chemical, dye, food industry, etc.

309S stainless steel can withstand repeated heating below 980 ℃, has high-temperature strength, and is widely used in boilers, energy, petrochemical, and other fields.

310S stainless steel is commonly known as 25-20. It can withstand heat up to more than 1000 ℃ and has excellent oxidation resistance. It takes 1500 ℃ to melt 310S. It still has a certain mechanical strength at 1300 ℃. Repeated heating at 800 ℃ will not affect the performance. It is often used in petrochemicals, electronics, military industry, etc.
